Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed a heartfelt belief that the residents of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) are inherently part of India’s extended family. Speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Business Summit in New Delhi, he conveyed confidence that the day is not far when PoK will reunite with India, driven by a shared identity, deep cultural bonds, and a collective sense of belonging. His remarks come after India’s recent military action, Operation Sindoor, and reflect a vision that goes beyond mere territorial claims to embrace the human and emotional connections that link PoK’s people with India.
PoK Residents Seen as Integral to India
Rajnath Singh firmly stated that those living in PoK, despite current geographical and political separation, remain India’s own people. He said, “We have full faith that those of our brothers who are separated from us today will return to the mainstream of India, listening to their soul’s voice.” This marks a significant emphasis on inclusion and unity, moving beyond political rhetoric to address the emotional and cultural ties that connect PoK’s population with the Indian nation. Rajnath Singh highlighted that the majority of PoK’s population shares a deep connection with India, while only a small minority have been influenced by misleading forces.
The Defence Minister’s message strongly resonates with India’s broader approach to Kashmir, emphasizing love, unity, and truth as pathways toward reunification. He articulated a vision where PoK itself will someday declare, “I am India, I have returned,” underscoring the human aspect of the territorial issue.
Focused Approach Toward Pakistan
Rajnath Singh outlined a recalibrated policy toward Pakistan, making it clear that future diplomatic engagement will concentrate strictly on two issues: terrorism and PoK. “We have redesigned and redefined India’s response to terrorism,” he said. “We will talk to Pakistan only about PoK and terrorism—nothing else.” Rajnath Singh’s statement underlines India’s intent to avoid broader political distractions and focus sharply on the core security challenges posed by cross-border terrorism.
He also noted that the business of terrorism is no longer viable for Pakistan, as the country is beginning to realize the high costs associated with supporting terror activities. Rajnath Singh’s stance reflects a pragmatic approach to dealing with Pakistan, anchored in safeguarding national security and asserting India’s firm position on Kashmir.
