French President Emmanuel Macron Visits Singapore

French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Singapore as part of a week-long Asian tour, which started on May 25. Macron will address the prestigious Shangri-La Dialogue on May 30. The visit is intended to strengthen ties in defense, energy, innovation, and cultural cooperation.

This diplomatic outreach reflects France and the European Union’s effort to deepen commercial and strategic partnerships in Asia amid growing concerns over trade policies, including US tariffs under former President Donald Trump.

PM Narendra Modi to Celebrate Sikkim’s Golden Jubilee

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Sikkim to attend the state’s 50th statehood day celebrations at Paljor Stadium. The event titled ‘Sikkim@50: Where Progress Meets Purpose and Nature Nurtures Growth’ is scheduled for 11 am on May 29.

Alongside the celebrations, Modi will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several development projects, including a new 500-bed district hospital in Namchi, a passenger ropeway in Sangachoeling, and a statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Amrit Udyan in Gangtok. Commemorative coins and stamps marking 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood will also be released.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Jammu and Poonch Visit

Amit Shah will visit Jammu and the border district of Poonch on May 29 and 30. This marks his first trip to the region since Operation Sindoor.

He will hold a security review meeting in Jammu on May 29 and visit Poonch the following day. Poonch has faced significant challenges due to cross-border shelling from Pakistan. During his visit, Shah is expected to meet with families affected by the conflict, reflecting the government’s commitment to addressing their concerns.

New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters Visits India

New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Winston Peters, is on a two-day visit to India starting May 29. Peters is scheduled to meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Health Minister JP Nadda in New Delhi.

India-New Zealand ties have grown stronger over decades of migration and cultural exchange. Today, approximately 300,000 people of Indian origin reside in New Zealand, many of whom have permanent roots.
