In a resolute appeal to the international community, Qatar has reiterated its call for urgent measures to halt the ongoing violence in Gaza, while also condemning Israel’s reported nuclear threats against the besieged territory. Ambassador Hamadi, representing Qatar, delivered a compelling statement at the regular meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, shedding light on the pressing issue of Israeli nuclear capabilities.

The Qatari plea emphasized the imperative of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, urging the lifting of all barriers obstructing the delivery of vital humanitarian aid and the protection of Palestinian civilians in accordance with international law and humanitarian principles.

Qatar’s condemnation was unequivocal, denouncing what it described as a campaign of extermination by Israeli forces against the Gaza Strip. The statement highlighted the use of heavy, lethal, and internationally prohibited weapons, along with deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, places of worship, and residential areas. Additionally, Qatar condemned the use of starvation as a tool of oppression, leading to the tragic loss of thousands of lives and injuring many more, predominantly women and children.

Of particular concern were recent threats allegedly made by an Israeli minister to employ nuclear weapons against Gaza. Qatar firmly asserted that such threats not only confirmed Israel’s possession of nuclear arms but also its willingness to use them against defenseless civilians, in blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions.

In response, Qatar called upon relevant international bodies, including the International Atomic Energy Agency, to address the gravity of the situation and its potential ramifications. Qatar demanded stringent oversight of Israeli nuclear facilities by the International Atomic Energy Agency and urged Israel to accede to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
