Chandigarh, September 9 (HS): Punjab Police recovered 15 kg of heroin on the India-Pakistan border and arrested a smuggler. The value of the seized heroin is estimated to be around Rs 105 crore.
Punjab Police Director General Gaurav Yadav said on Saturday that the SSOC wing of Fazilka had conducted an intelligence operation against the cross-border drug smuggling network. Meanwhile, a drug smuggler has been arrested, from whom the police have recovered 15 kg of heroin. The Indian smuggler was carrying this consignment hidden in a trolley filled with straw. The seized heroin has been sent to the lab for testing.
He said that in the last 45 days, SSOC Fazilka has recovered 147 kg of heroin. A case has been registered against the smuggler at Police Station Sadar Fazilka, and action has been initiated. The DGP said that efforts are being made to find out with whom this smuggler was in contact in Pakistan and where in India this heroin was to be delivered.
