Marrakesh, 09 Sept : At least 300 people were killed as a strong earthquake struck Morocco on Friday late evening. Several others were seriously injured. The intensity of the earthquake was 6.8 on the Richter Scale.
Powerful Earthquake Strikes Near Marrakesh
According to the American Geological Survey, the epicentre of the earthquake was 71 Km southwest of Marrakesh, a city famous as a tourist place, and at 18.5 Km below the Earth’s surface. Strong tremors were felt at 11.11 pm (Local Time) on Friday. The number of casualties is likely to increase.
The earthquake in Morocco is the most powerful in the last 120 years, according to the American Geological Survey.
