The city of Mathura is gearing up for the grand celebration of the 525th Birth Anniversary of Sant Mirabai, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to attend the ‘Sant Mirabai Janmotsav’ on November 23, 2023. In a significant move, the Prime Minister will release a commemorative stamp and coin in honor of Sant Mirabai and partake in the cultural programme organized on this auspicious occasion.
Sant Mirabai, revered for her profound devotion to Lord Krishna, is a celebrated figure in Indian history, known for her soulful hymns and verses that remain popular to this day. The event in Mathura, a city deeply connected to Lord Krishna, will also initiate a series of year-long programmes dedicated to the memory of Sant Mirabai.
In preparation for this high-profile visit, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Mathura on Sunday to oversee the arrangements.
During his visit, CM Yogi reviewed the preparations and security measures in place for the Prime Minister’s arrival. The Chief Minister visited the Braj Raj Utsav Mela at the Dholi Pyau Railway Ground, the venue for the Janmotsav. He took a detailed tour of the ground, inspecting the arrangements for the event. District Magistrate Shailendra Singh briefed the Chief Minister on the various aspects of the preparations, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken for the smooth conduct of the programme.
Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister extended his visit to Vrindavan and offered prayers at the famous Banke Bihari Temple, seeking blessings for the well-being of the citizens. The Chief Minister also visited the ancient Madan Gopal temple, continuing the spiritual tone of his visit.
It is pertinent to note that the visit is anticipated to draw significant attention, not only for its cultural and religious importance but also as a reflection of the government’s commitment to honoring India’s rich spiritual heritage. The release of the commemorative stamp and coin in honor of Sant Mirabai is expected to be a highlight of the event, symbolizing national recognition of her spiritual and cultural contributions.
