Newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) assembled in Parliament today for discussions regarding cabinet formation preceding the oath-taking ceremony.
Following the NDA’s crossing of the majority mark with 293 seats in the Lok Sabha polls, MPs congregated to deliberate on government formation. Despite the NDA’s success, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 240 seats, significantly fewer than its 2019 tally.
During a meeting at the Prime Minister’s official residence, 21 NDA leaders unanimously elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi as their leader, expressing appreciation for his contributions to nation-building and development.
Key figures such as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant were among those in attendance. Nitish Kumar, a leader of the Janata Dal (United), emphasized the importance of the alliance’s collective efforts.
Prime Minister Naendra Modi is anticipated to submit his coalition government proposal after consultations with the newly elected MPs. The BJP, having fallen short of a clear majority, has been engaged in negotiations with its alliance partners since the election results were declared.
The NDA’s electoral victory has positioned parties like the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Janata Dal (United), Shiv Sena, and Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas as influential allies in the coalition formation process.
In a separate development, the Lok Jansakti Party (Ramvilas) convened a parliamentary party meeting under the leadership of Chirag Paswan to discuss future strategies and agendas.
The gathering of newly elected NDA MPs signifies the beginning of a pivotal phase in India’s political landscape, as the coalition prepares to assume power and address the nation’s pressing issues.
