The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit recently debunked misleading social media reports claiming that drones were sighted in Jammu and Kashmir, following the announcement of a truce between India and Pakistan. These false claims began circulating just hours after both countries agreed to a ceasefire after 100 hours of military engagement. PIB took to social media to clarify that these drone sightings were a hoax and urged citizens to rely on authentic sources for information.
The viral social media claims that drones had been spotted in various locations of Jammu and Kashmir, including parts of Srinagar, were swiftly countered by the PIB Fact Check unit. In their tweet, PIB stated that these reports were “fake,” adding that there was no drone activity in the region. The clarification was issued at a time when the two countries were in the midst of a fragile truce, following the most intense exchange of military actions in recent days. The ceasefire had been agreed upon on May 10, 2025, after extensive military operations that spanned across land, air, and sea. However, just hours after the agreement, reports emerged of ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army, particularly along the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as parts of Punjab and Rajasthan.
Indian Armed Forces Respond to Ceasefire Violation
Following the ceasefire violations, the Indian Armed Forces issued a strong statement regarding any future breaches. Lt General Rajiv Ghai, Director General of Military Operations, emphasized that the Indian military commanders had been granted full authority to take counteractions in case Pakistan violated the truce again. He underscored that the Indian Army was well-prepared and ready to respond in the kinetic domain to any provocation by Pakistan. Additionally, Vice Admiral AN Pramod, Director General of Naval Operations, made it clear that Pakistan was fully aware of the potential consequences of provoking the Indian Forces.
This heightened vigilance and the readiness to respond swiftly highlights India’s firm stance on national security and the defense of its borders. The Indian forces’ response to these provocations underscores their commitment to protecting the integrity of the nation, especially in sensitive regions such as Jammu and Kashmir.
Security at Key Airports
As the tensions persist, airports in the region, including Srinagar, Amritsar, and Chandigarh, have remained on high alert. The security measures around these airports are crucial, given the potential for further escalation. With the situation still volatile, the Indian Armed Forces have been closely monitoring the borders and ensuring that strategic infrastructure, including key airports, remains secure against any possible threats.
