Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and actor Pawan Kalyan shared a heartfelt health update on his eight-year-old son, Mark Shankar, who was injured in a tragic fire at a Singapore school. The incident occurred on April 8, 2025, when a fire broke out at a shophouse on River Valley Road, affecting several children, including Mark. He sustained burns on his limbs and experienced respiratory difficulties due to smoke inhalation.
As soon as he received the news, Pawan Kalyan, who was attending official engagements in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district, cancelled his scheduled programmes in Visakhapatnam and rushed to Singapore. Medical staff at a local hospital have been closely monitoring Mark’s condition. Doctors have indicated that his recovery is gradual but steady, bringing some relief to the anxious family.
In an emotional message to the public, Pawan Kalyan expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support received from across the country. He specifically mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who personally reached out to offer words of encouragement and comfort. The actor-politician noted that Modi’s call served as a major source of strength for the family in a time of crisis.
He also acknowledged the swift assistance provided by the Indian High Commission in Singapore, which has been closely involved in facilitating medical and logistical support. The Indian High Commissioner was reportedly in constant touch with the family and local authorities to ensure that no effort was spared in assisting them.
Pawan Kalyan also thanked Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for his call and moral support. Beyond political circles, members of the film industry, colleagues, and countless fans have sent prayers and well-wishes, many of which Pawan Kalyan said had brought “strength beyond words.” The family, known for maintaining privacy, has found solace in the spontaneous wave of solidarity.
