According to sources, the Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to commence on July 22 and is expected to run until August 9. During this session, the government plans to present the full Budget for 2024-2025, following pre-consultation meetings by the Finance Ministry with various ministries and stakeholders starting June 17.
Key agenda items for the Monsoon Session include the swearing-in of newly elected members, the election of the Speaker, the President’s address, and subsequent parliamentary discussions.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijuju confirmed the dates for the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha from June 24 to July 3.
Earlier this year, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Interim Budget 2024-25 on February 1, highlighting the government’s economic achievements over the past decade and emphasizing initiatives to stimulate job creation and support sectors like agriculture, youth, and women.
Additionally, a special 8-day session of Parliament is scheduled to begin on June 24, during which the election of the Lok Sabha Speaker is expected on June 26. New Members of Parliament will take their oaths on June 24 and 25.
The upcoming Monsoon Session is anticipated to be a crucial period for legislative discussions and the formulation of key policies impacting the nation’s economic and social landscape.
