The Paris Olympics 2024 is starting tomorrow, and this time 117 athletes from India are participating. After winning only two medals in Rio Olympics 2016 and seven medals in Tokyo Olympics 2020, there is full hope of India’s medal tally reaching double digits this time. Let’s explore the disciplines India is participating in, the flag bearers, and the athletes from whom we can expect gold.
Flag Bearers: PV Sindhu and A Sharath Kamal
India’s star badminton player PV Sindhu will have the responsibility of being the flag bearer for the women athletes, and for the men’s team, Indian table tennis player A Sharath Kamal will be the flag bearer.
This time, 117 athletes from India are participating in 16 disciplines, making it the second largest contingent in the world at the Paris Olympics. Out of these 117 athletes, 72 are making their Olympic debut.
Neeraj Chopra
The biggest hope for India is Neeraj Chopra, who won the gold medal in javelin throw at the last Olympics. Since Tokyo 2020, Neeraj has consistently won gold medals in every competition he participated in.
Jyoti Yaraji
Jyoti Yaraji is India’s first woman athlete to participate in the 100m hurdles race. She secured a silver medal in the Asian Games, making her a strong contender for a medal in Paris.
Chirag Shetty & Satwiksairaj Rankireddy
In badminton, the men’s doubles team of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy has high expectations. Alongside them, PV Sindhu in women’s singles and Lakshya Sen in men’s singles are exciting prospects.
Lovlina Borgohain and Nikhat Zarin
In boxing, Lovlina Borgohain and Nikhat Zarin are promising athletes. Lovlina won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics and a silver medal at the Asian Games last year. Nikhat Zarin is a two-time world champion and gold medalist at the Commonwealth Games, making her Olympic debut this year.
Mirabai Chanu
Mirabai Chanu won a silver medal in the last Olympics and is eyeing her second Olympic medal this time. Despite her recent injuries, she remains a top medal prospect for India.
Indian Men’s Hockey Team
India’s men’s hockey team won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, ending a 40-year medal drought, and gold at the Asian Games. However, the competition will be tough with teams like Belgium, Australia, and Argentina in the group stage.
Other Promising Athletes
Aditi Ashok in golf and Antim Panghal in wrestling are among the young athletes aiming to make India proud. Indian shooters like Manu Bhaker, Sarabjot Singh, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, and Sift Kaur Samra will also play a crucial role in boosting India’s medal tally to double digits.
Senior Athletes
Senior athletes like Rohan Bopanna, A Sharath Kamal, and Vinesh Phogat are expected to deliver strong performances and make India proud on the world stage.
As these athletes have to compete at high levels, they must follow a healthy lifestyle & diet, which helps boost their strength and stamina. One of the best ways to enhance both is by consuming Dabur Chyawanprash which comprises over 40 natural herbs & supports various aspects of health.
