Following the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 tourists dead, flight tracking data showing Pakistani military aircraft relocating closer to the Indian border has triggered speculation online. While officials have made no formal statements yet, visuals from flight monitoring platforms have stirred concerns about a potential response from India and possible preparations on the other side of the border.
Just hours after the Pahalgam massacre, screenshots from Flightradar24 began circulating widely on social media. They appeared to show significant aircraft movements by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) from Karachi’s Southern Air Command to airbases located near Lahore and Rawalpindi, both of which lie close to the Indian border.
Among the aircraft observed in the movements were a Lockheed C-130E Hercules, designated PAF198, and an Embraer Phenom 100 jet marked PAF101. The Hercules is known for its cargo transport capabilities, while the Embraer is often associated with VIP or intelligence operations. These movements have led to heightened speculation, especially among defense watchers online.
The timing of the activity has raised eyebrows, with many drawing parallels to the 2019 Balakot strike. At that time, the Indian Air Force launched an airstrike on a Jaish-e-Mohammed camp inside Pakistan following a suicide bombing that killed 40 CRPF personnel in Pulwama. Some users now suggest Pakistan could be preparing for a similar Indian response in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack.
The Pahalgam shooting, one of the worst attacks on civilians in Jammu and Kashmir in recent years, was carried out by The Resistance Front, a group affiliated with the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. Eyewitnesses and local reports suggest the assailants questioned victims about their religion before opening fire, further intensifying public anger.
The tragic incident, which also claimed the lives of foreign tourists, has not only sparked global condemnation but also placed both nations on alert. Videos circulating online show the chaos that unfolded at the scenic tourist destination, often referred to as “mini Switzerland,” now marred by bloodshed.
As the Indian government assesses its options and public outrage grows, the military activity across the border continues to be closely monitored.
