Guwahati (Assam) [India], October 12 (ANI): The special train that departed from Bihar’s Buxar for Guwahati with 1006 affected passengers of the North-East Express train after the derailment incident, will have halts at intermediate stations, officials said.

According to officials with Lumding railway division of North East Frontier Railway, the special train departed from Danapur station at 6:00 am with 1006 passengers on board.

TB Bhujel, a senior commercial cum ticket clerk (CCTC), said that the train will halt at the intermediate stations (or stations where there is no official halt for the train) enroute for the convenience of the passengers.

“The train will halt at the stations in which the passengers want to deboard close to their place of destination or residence. Though this might increase the overall journey time,” Bhujel said.

“There will be provisions for food and water on the way. So it will take time,” he added.

Speaking about the helpline numbers started by the Railway after the incident, Bhujel said that a helpline number has been issued, for Raghunathpur (03612674857), which is the main site of the incident.

“Four other helpline numbers for Patna, Danapur, CC Danapur Control and Arrah have also been started. All arrangements have been made by the Railways,” he pointed out.

The coaches of 12506 North-East Express train originating in Delhi’s Anand Vihar Terminus and on its way to Kamakhya near Guwahati in Assam derailed near Raghunathpur station in Danapur division of the East Central Railway, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Northeast Frontier Railway said.

At least four persons were killed and around 70 people were injured after 21 coaches of the express train derailed around 9.30 pm on Wednesday.

Tarun Prakash, General Manager of East Central Railways (ECR) told ANI that authorities are investigating the cause of the incident. (ANI)
