The Noida Authority has announced plans to repair and enhance public spaces along major city roads, improve green areas, and address pedestrian accessibility, following an inspection by Chief Executive Officer Lokesh M on Monday. The inspection covered Sector 94, Kalindi Kunj, and surrounding areas, where officials were directed to focus on both civic infrastructure and aesthetic improvements.

Beautification and Traffic Improvements at Kalindi Kunj

During the inspection, CEO Lokesh M instructed officials to install paintings on the sidewalls of Kalindi Kunj entry gate to improve visual appeal. He also highlighted the need to remove dense vegetation obstructing traffic between Kalindi Kunj and Noida Gate, and recommended installation of high-mast or LED streetlights to ensure proper illumination at night.

“Proper signage and lighting are essential to improve accessibility and safety for commuters,” Lokesh M said. He further instructed the removal of unauthorised unipoles, hoardings, kiosks, and accumulated debris in the area to ensure clear roads and public spaces.

Infrastructure Repairs in Sector 94 and Sector 125

At the Sector 94 underpass, the CEO noticed an old, low-height barrier intended to prevent heavy vehicle entry lacked visibility. He directed officials to apply retro-reflective tape and strictly enforce a no-parking rule to prevent congestion.

In Sector 125, Lokesh M emphasized the construction of a footpath and designated parking spaces to improve pedestrian safety and orderly vehicular movement. Officials were asked to prioritize infrastructure repairs and ensure proper maintenance of these stretches.

Recent Sanitation Criticism and Public Grievances

The Noida Authority has faced public criticism over sanitation and civic negligence. On Monday, a resident uploaded pictures of piles of garbage in Salarpur village, prompting widespread trolling on social media platform X. The Authority initially claimed the issue had been addressed, but images showed the area still littered with garbage and mud, leading to the deletion of the post on Tuesday.

Local resident Prashant Sharma, from Sector 45, Sadarpur, expressed frustration, saying, “The Authority is extremely slow and negligent in addressing public grievances, including complaints related to sanitation, encroachment, and civic infrastructure repair.”

Government Response and Action Plan

Officials confirmed that the repair and beautification plan is part of a broader initiative to improve city infrastructure and public spaces. The administration intends to focus on roadside greenery, pedestrian-friendly pathways, and clear signage to enhance commuter convenience and safety.

A senior Noida Authority official said, “Following the CEO’s inspection, all departments have been instructed to expedite removal of encroachments, debris, and unauthorised structures. Simultaneously, aesthetic improvements and street-lighting upgrades are being prioritized for high-traffic zones.”

Expert Opinions on Urban Maintenance

Urban planning and civic experts note that timely maintenance and aesthetic improvements in key city areas are critical to enhancing both safety and quality of life. “Well-lit, debris-free roads with clear signage reduce accidents and improve overall public satisfaction. Authorities must ensure systematic and continuous maintenance rather than ad-hoc measures,” said Dr. Anupama Singh, a Noida-based urban development consultant.

Experts also stressed the importance of transparent public grievance redressal systems to address sanitation and encroachment complaints effectively, citing the Salarpur incident as indicative of gaps in monitoring and accountability.

Next Steps and Public Expectations

The Noida Authority has committed to completing the planned repairs, beautification, and infrastructure improvements within a defined timeline, with regular updates promised to the public. Officials have urged citizens to report any persisting issues through official channels to facilitate prompt action.

With the CEO’s active supervision and stricter enforcement of rules, the administration aims to create safer, cleaner, and visually appealing public spaces across Noida, addressing longstanding complaints and improving civic infrastructure for residents and commuters alike.

The initiative is expected to set a benchmark for urban maintenance, pedestrian-friendly design, and public accountability in Noida’s rapidly expanding urban landscape.
