In a heartbreaking turn of events, 26-year-old Lieutenant Vinay Narwal of the Indian Navy, who had been married just a week earlier, was among those killed in a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Vinay Narwal, posted in Kochi, had taken a short vacation with his wife following their wedding on April 16. His sudden death has left his family, community, and fellow service members devastated.
The young officer, a native of Karnal in Haryana, had joined the Navy two years ago and was seen as a bright, disciplined officer with a promising future. His wedding reception had only been held on April 19, days before the tragic attack. Defence officials confirmed he was on leave when the militants struck. Local residents described the shock that gripped the community upon hearing the news, with many mourning the loss of a life just beginning a new chapter.

The Civil Aviation Ministry assured prompt action once the list of stranded passengers is received.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the attack, offering condolences to the victims’ families and assuring justice. In a post on X, he emphasized that those behind the attack will not be spared and reaffirmed India’s commitment to combating terrorism.
