The Uttarkashi tunnel rescue at Silkyara Bend has been an ongoing effort since November 12, when a catastrophic event led to the trapping of 41 workers. This critical situation has garnered widespread attention, including the involvement of various national forces and the spiritual support from local communities.
Spiritual Support and Prayers:
A significant aspect of the rescue mission has been the spiritual support provided by the local religious leaders. Priest Dinesh Prasad highlighted the community’s efforts in offering prayers and organizing religious ceremonies for the safety and swift rescue of the trapped workers. The local community gathered to perform a ‘Havan Puja’ at 2:30 pm today, invoking their ‘Isht Devta’ (cherished deity) in a collective prayer for the workers’ well-being.
Governmental and Prime Minister’s Involvement:
The rescue operation has seen active involvement from the highest levels of state government and centre.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been closely monitoring the situation, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of various teams such as National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
We can also see the active involvement of Indian Army, and Indian Air Force. Pushkar Singh Dhami also noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally overseeing the operation.
The extraction of the auger machine, a key component in the rescue operation, has been a significant milestone.
Technical Challenges and Efforts:
One of the most challenging aspects of the rescue operation has been dealing with the technical difficulties.
The broken parts of the auger machine within the Silkyara tunnel have hindered progress. Efforts are ongoing to retrieve these parts and overcome the obstacle they present.
The damaged section of the 1.2-meter diameter pipeline, laid through horizontal drilling, is now being manually removed by miners, a process that is both intricate and time-consuming.
