In a gesture of religious harmony, two Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district have donated their land to construct a road connecting a 500-year-old Hindu temple that lacked proper accessibility.
Gulam Rasool and Gulam Mohammad, residents of Kheral panchayat, donate four kanals of land for road construction. The road, estimated to cost over one crore rupees, will connect the Gupt Kashi – Gouri Shankar temple in Kansi Patta village. The 1200-meter road with a 10-foot width aims to improve accessibility to the ancient temple. Authorities plan to construct the road soon using panchayat funds.
Gulam Rasool, a former panchayat member and farmer, emphasized the importance of fostering communal harmony and dispelling attempts to sow discord. A meeting was convened with panchayat members and revenue officials, where the landowners agreed to allocate portions of their land for the road project. The temple, slated for renovation, also owns additional land in the vicinity, with the matter brought to the attention of District Development Commissioner Reasi for further action.
The generous contribution by Gulam Rasool and Gulam Mohammad exemplifies the spirit of unity and coexistence, fostering peace and harmony in the region.
