Authorities at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport were thrust into action after a bomb threat targeting an IndiGo flight from Chandigarh was received on May 7, 2025. The threat, which was made through a phone call to the airport hotline, claimed that a bomb would be detonated on the aircraft. This unsettling development prompted immediate security measures, resulting in heightened vigilance and a thorough search operation at the airport.
The IndiGo flight, which had been en route from Chandigarh, landed safely in Mumbai late the previous night. Upon arrival, the aircraft was swiftly secured in a designated isolated area, and airport security personnel, along with police forces, began a detailed search of the plane. Their efforts were focused on ensuring that there were no dangerous items aboard. Thankfully, no suspicious material was found on the aircraft, but investigations are ongoing to ascertain the source and authenticity of the bomb threat.
