In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians, India launched Operation Sindoor as a precise and strategic counteroffensive. The Indian Air Force executed a series of missile strikes on May 7, 2025, targeting nine key terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), aiming to dismantle the infrastructure of groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The strikes were meticulously planned, with the use of state-of-the-art missile technology to ensure minimal civilian casualties.

The operation’s primary focus was to destroy terrorist camps and training facilities linked to internationally wanted individuals like Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed. Bahawalpur, the stronghold of JeM, and Muridke, the operational base of LeT, were among the most crucial targets. In addition to these, key locations in PoK, including Kotli and Muzaffarabad, which hosted LeT and JeM training camps, were also destroyed. The strikes, carried out under the cover of night, were intended to weaken the terror infrastructure while avoiding full-scale military conflict.

Precision Strike Weapon System: The Key to Operation Sindoor’s Success

A critical element that ensured the success of Operation Sindoor was the use of the Precision Strike Weapon System (PSWS). This advanced technology enabled the Indian Air Force to execute surgical strikes with unmatched accuracy, targeting only militant infrastructure and minimizing the risk to civilians. The PSWS uses a combination of GPS, infrared, radar, and laser guidance to strike with pinpoint accuracy, significantly reducing the risk to operators and the soldiers involved in the mission.

Operation Sindoor’s success was not only due to the advanced weaponry but also due to the intelligence gathering efforts that went into it. Surveillance and reconnaissance assets, including drones and satellites, provided real-time data, which allowed Indian forces to carry out accurate and targeted attacks. These strikes were closely monitored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who ensured the precision and effectiveness of each phase of the operation.

With Operation Sindoor, India has demonstrated its enhanced military capabilities and unwavering resolve in combating cross-border terrorism, marking a significant moment in the country’s security strategy.
