Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp political attack on the Congress during a rally in Hisar, Haryana, accusing the party of disrespecting BR Ambedkar, misusing the Constitution, and practicing vote-bank politics at the expense of social justice. In a strongly worded address, he highlighted the BJP’s recent policy decisions and reforms as evidence of his government’s commitment to true constitutional values and equity, contrasting them with the Congress’s historical record.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Congress not only ignored Ambedkar during his lifetime but actively worked against him. “We must not forget how Ambedkar was treated. The Congress insulted him when he was alive and ensured he was defeated in elections,” he told the crowd. He accused the party of manipulating constitutional provisions for political gain rather than following its principles.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Slams Congress on Secularism and Reservation
The Prime Minister pointed to the recent implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, saying it was in line with the Constitution’s call for a common civil framework. He criticized the Congress for opposing it. “The Constitution talks about a secular civil code, yet Congress never implemented it. Now that we have, they’re objecting to it,” he said.
He also alleged that the Congress failed to ensure that Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) received the intended benefits of reservation. Instead, he said, the party introduced religion-based quotas in government tenders—something he claimed violated Ambedkar’s constitutional vision. “Ambedkar clearly stated that there should be no reservation on religious grounds. But Congress brought in laws to reserve government tenders for certain religions,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said.
‘Waqf Law Reforms Will End Land Misuse,’ Says PM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also turned his attention to the Waqf (Amendment) Act, accusing Congress of using Waqf properties for personal and political gains. He claimed large tracts of land under Waqf boards were misused, benefitting land mafias instead of the poor. “If that land had been used for the welfare of Muslims or the underprivileged, it could have changed lives. But the loot of land continued,” he said.
He said the amended Waqf law now ensures protection of Adivasi land and fair distribution to marginalized groups, including Pasmanda Muslims. Modi called it a move toward “real social justice” and an end to vote-bank exploitation.
