Athens, 25 Aug : Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to unsung war heroes at their memorial during his Greece tour. He then met President Katerina Sakellaropoulou and discussed bilateral relations and the success of Chandrayaan-3.
Modi arrived for an official tour on Friday. He is the second Indian Prime Minister to tour Greece after 40 years, after Indira Gandhi in 1983.
The relations between India and Greece are historical and will be strengthened further. The two discussed the Chandrayaan-3 mission at length, which is a success not only for India but for the entire humanity. The information collected by Chandrayaan-3 will be helpful for the scientific community and all human beings. Earlier Modi said that his tour is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
Modi was welcomed at Athens Airport by Foreign Affairs Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis. The Indian community in Athens presented a Greek Headdress to Modi on his arrival. Thousands of people reached the airport to welcome Modi. Modi talked to some of them, particularly children.
Modi reached Athens on a on-day tour after the 15th BRICS summit in South Africa. He will attend various programmes in Greece and will talk to business groups and the Indian community.
