Australian captain Mitchell Marsh has expressed his confidence in all-rounder Glenn Maxwell’s ability to secure victories for the team in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Addressing the media, Mitchell Marsh underscored Glenn Maxwell’s significance in the team, highlighting his contributions with both bat and ball, along with his exceptional fielding skills.
“For us, it’s always a no-brainer. We know that Maxi is going to win us games,” Mitchell Marsh stated, affirming Glenn Maxwell’s indispensable presence in the squad.
While Glenn Maxwell had a subdued IPL 2024 season with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mitchell Marsh affirmed his inclusion in Australia’s playing XI for the T20 World Cup opener against Oman. Despite a challenging IPL outing, Glenn Maxwell remains a key asset for Australia.
Regarding the team’s lineup for the England encounter, Mitchell Marsh confirmed the return of Pat Cummins to the playing XI after missing the first match. He also assured that Mitchell Starc is fit and available for selection.
Mitchell Marsh hinted at the possibility of Nathan Elllis being omitted from the playing XI if both Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc feature in the lineup.
In head-to-head matchups, England holds a slight advantage over Australia, having won 11 out of 21 encounters. However, Australia aims to level the playing field and secure a crucial victory against their rivals in the T20 World Cup arena.
