The State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET Cell) Maharashtra has officially launched the registration process for the Maharashtra Common Eligibility Test (MHT CET 2025). The online application is now available for candidates who are interested in appearing for this important exam. Those who wish to apply can visit the official website, cetcell.mahacet.org, for detailed instructions and information on the registration process. The deadline to submit the application form is February 15, 2025. For candidates who miss the initial deadline, there is an extended application period until February 22, 2025, with a late fee of Rs 500.
The MHT CET 2025 is open to candidates who have completed their Class 12 exams or will be appearing for them in 2025. Students must have studied Physics and Mathematics in Class 12, along with one optional subject from the following: Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Technical Vocational Subjects, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, or Business Studies. This ensures that candidates from different streams are eligible to apply for the exam.
The MHT CET will be divided into two groups: the PCB group (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and the PCM group (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics). The exam for the PCB group is tentatively scheduled from April 9 to April 17, 2025, with the exception of April 10 and 14, 2025. The exam for the PCM group is expected to take place between April 19 and April 27, 2025, excluding April 24, 2025.
For general category candidates, the application fee for MHT CET 2025 is Rs 1,000. However, candidates from the backward classes (SC, ST, VJ/DTNT(A), NT(B), NT(C), NT(D), OBC, SBC, SEBC, and EWS), as well as Persons with Disabilities (PwD), Orphans, and Transgender candidates, will be required to pay a reduced fee of Rs 800.
The MHT CET exam will carry a weightage of 20 percent from the Class 11 syllabus and 80 percent from the Class 12 syllabus. The question paper will be designed to align with the difficulty level of exams like the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, while Biology questions will be set to match the level of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
Candidates will not face any negative marking in the MHT CET 2025. This is an important update for those preparing for the exam, as it will provide them with the opportunity to perform to the best of their abilities without the risk of losing marks for incorrect answers.
As the registration process begins, all prospective candidates are encouraged to apply early and avoid the late fee. With the MHT CET playing a pivotal role in shaping the future academic paths of students in Maharashtra, candidates are advised to stay informed about the exam dates and preparation guidelines, which will be released in the coming months.
