A 27-year-old man, identified as Thanda Paani, was allegedly stabbed to death by unidentified assailants in Delhi’s Trilokpuri area on Wednesday, prompting a police investigation into the incident.
According to authorities, the victim was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital with multiple stab wounds, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for East Delhi, Apoorva Gupta, confirmed the incident, stating, “We received information from Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital regarding a man who was brought in with multiple stab injuries. Unfortunately, he was declared brought dead by doctors.”
“We are currently in the process of verifying the details and gathering additional information. Additionally, two more individuals were admitted to the hospital in the afternoon with injuries. While it is believed to be related to the same incident, we are yet to confirm this. The deceased has been identified as Thanda Paani,” Gupta added.
Officials revealed that the victim had a criminal record, with involvement in approximately 20-21 cases of crime registered at the Mayur Vihar police station. He had also been labeled as a ‘bad character’ by the Delhi Police.
In response to the incident, authorities are registering a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and initiating a thorough investigation into the matter.
