Imphal, September 4: The Manipur government has filed a case against the Editors Guild of India (EGI). The Editors Guild is accused of trying to escalate conflict in the state of Manipur. State Chief Minister Biren Singh condemned the actions of the fact-finding team.
Trying to escalate the conflict
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh told a press conference on Monday that the state government has filed an FIR against the members of the Editors Guild. They allege that the Editors Guild is trying to escalate the conflict in the state of Manipur. The names of EGI members Seema Guha, Sanjay Kapoor, Bharat Bhushan, and Editors Guild of India President Seema Mustafa are named in this FIR.
The Supreme Court has constituted several commissions
Condemning the actions of the fact-finding team, the Manipur Chief Minister said, The issues raised and initiated by the Editors Guild of India are highly condemnable. We condemn this in the strongest terms. He said that the Supreme Court has constituted several commissions, which include a retired Chief Justice and several judges. Additionally, the Government of India has also constituted an inquiry commission headed by a retired Chief Justice. The investigation is going on in different ways at different places.
