A man has been arrested by the police for allegedly threatening to kill Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in a video that surfaced on social media. The accused, identified as Sheikh Ataul, is a resident of Malda in West Bengal. The police also recovered a pistol, a knife, and several objectionable pictures from him, which are currently being investigated.
The arrest came after a nearly one-minute-long video surfaced on social media in which the man was seen threatening to take the life of Yogi Adityanath, who holds a constitutional position as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The video contained provocative remarks, allegedly intended to disturb communal harmony and incite violence, according to officials from the police department. In the footage, Ataul can be heard making several inflammatory statements, further raising concerns about the potential risk of communal unrest.
The media in-charge of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh confirmed that the accused’s family had migrated from Bangladesh to India many years ago. While the exact motive behind the threat remains under investigation, authorities are treating the matter with seriousness, given the sensitive nature of the threat and its potential impact on peace and order.
The case has been formally registered against Ataul by the Gautam Buddha Nagar Media Cell. A report was filed at the Noida Sector 39 Police Station, and the police are continuing their investigation into the incident. The authorities have emphasized that they are committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring that no acts of violence or threats to constitutional authorities are tolerated. Further legal proceedings will follow once the investigation is completed.
The police have also expressed their concerns about the content circulating on social media, urging the public to be cautious and to refrain from spreading inflammatory material that could lead to unrest. The authorities have assured the public that swift action would be taken against those attempting to disrupt communal harmony or incite violence.
This arrest has once again highlighted the growing concern regarding threats to public figures and the responsibility of individuals to exercise caution when posting content on social media platforms. Law enforcement agencies are expected to continue their vigilance in monitoring such threats to ensure the safety and security of political leaders and the public at large.
