Ajay Devgn’s latest biographical film, “Maidaan,” portraying the life of football legend Syed Abdul Rahim, has garnered commendable success at the Indian box office, amassing over Rs 23 crore within its first five days of release. Despite encountering a decline in collections on Monday, April 15, the film continues to maintain a steady performance since its debut last week. Trade reports indicate that “Maidaan” is steadily approaching the Rs 50 crore mark worldwide.

Released amidst competition with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” on Eid, April 11, “Maidaan” has received widespread acclaim from audiences and critics alike for its portrayal of the inspirational football coach Syed Abdul Rahim.

While the film experienced a robust opening weekend at the box office, Monday saw a significant dip in collections, with earnings amounting to approximately Rs 2 crore. Initial trade estimates suggest that “Maidaan” garnered a net collection of Rs 1.50 crore in India on April 15.

Cumulatively, “Maidaan” has accumulated a net collection of Rs 23.50 crore in India over its five-day run. The film recorded an overall occupancy rate of 9.99 percent on April 15, indicating sustained interest among audiences.

Directed by Amit Sharma, “Maidaan” serves as a captivating biographical sports drama, with Ajay Devgn portraying the pivotal role of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Rahim, renowned for his contributions to Indian football between 1952 and 1962, played a crucial role in elevating India’s stature in the international football arena.

The screenplay of “Maidaan” is a collaborative effort by Salwyn Quadras, Aman Rai, Atul Shahi, and Amit Sharma. Alongside Ajay Devgn, the film features a talented ensemble cast including Priyamani, Gajaraj Rao, Devyansh Tripathi, Boney Kapoor, Nitanshi Goel, and Aayesha Vindhara. Produced jointly by Zee Studios, Bayview Projects, and Fresh Lime Films, “Maidaan” promises a captivating cinematic experience for audiences.
