Senior Congress leader Ajay Singh has criticized the state unit chief Jitu Patwari following the party’s significant defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. In an interview on Thursday, Ajay Singh demanded a thorough review of Jitu Patwari’s tenure.
Ajay Singh emphasized the need for accountability, stating, “I demand a high-level review of the tenure of the state party president, Jitu Patwari, during which not only the party has suffered a humiliating defeat, but also a large number of leaders and workers left.”
He further urged discussions on measures to prevent further defections and to analyze the reasons behind the party’s washout in the elections.
Expressing concern over the demoralization among Congress workers, Ajay Singh, the son of former Union Minister Arjun Singh, stressed the importance of addressing the party’s internal challenges for its future prospects.
Ajay Singh also questioned the campaign efforts of party veterans Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh, calling for a review of their involvement in the election process.
Additionally, he criticized turncoats like former Union Minister Suresh Pachouri and senior MLA Ramniwas Rawat, asserting that such opportunistic leaders who deserted the party during times of crisis should not be welcomed back, regardless of their stature.
