In the latest IPL 2024 match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), KL Rahul’s outstanding performance has garnered praise from cricket legend Brian Lara.
Rahul’s impressive knock of 82 runs off 53 balls during Friday’s encounter at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow caught Lara’s attention. LSG secured a convincing 8-wicket victory over the five-time champions CSK, with Rahul leading his team from the front and clinching the Player of the Match award.
The LSG skipper’s innings was characterized by a well-paced approach, as he navigated his team through the chase of a target of 177 runs, ultimately securing victory with 6 balls to spare. Lara particularly commended Rahul for his crucial opening partnership with Quinton de Kock, which set the foundation for LSG’s successful run-chase, amassing 134 runs off 15 overs.
Despite Rahul’s dismissal in the 18th over to Matheesha Pathirana, courtesy of a remarkable catch by Ravindra Jadeja, Lara emphasized the importance of Rahul’s contribution, stating, “He had to play that sort of an innings, especially in a chase where the total is not something above 200.”
