  • Letter hints at internal debate over BRS political direction.
  • Kavitha questions KCR’s silence on key BJP issues.

A handwritten letter allegedly written by BRS leader K Kavitha to her father and former Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) has stirred political discussions. In the note, Kavitha appears to express concerns over the direction of the party and criticizes KCR for not being vocal enough against the BJP during the party’s recent Silver Jubilee celebrations.

Feedback on Silver Jubilee Speech and BJP Positioning

The letter, reportedly penned in a mix of Telugu and English, reflects Kavitha’s feedback following the BRS Silver Jubilee meeting held in Warangal on April 27. In the letter, she mentions that KCR’s brief two-minute speech led to speculation about a possible alliance with the BJP. Kavitha wrote that she personally felt he should have spoken more strongly against the BJP, possibly influenced by her own experiences. She emphasized: “You should have targeted BJP some more, Daddy.”

She also pointed out that KCR’s omission of several key issues, including 42% reservation for backward classes, Scheduled Castes categorization, the Waqf Amendment Act, and the exclusion of Urdu from his address, had drawn criticism. Kavitha noted that some Telangana movement veterans were not allowed to speak or were not treated appropriately during the event.

Call for Political Clarity and Grassroots Concerns

The letter further observes that many grassroots BRS workers are starting to view BJP as a practical alternative to the ruling Congress, which Kavitha claimed is losing public trust. She argued that the party’s decision not to contest the recent MLC elections had created uncertainty among the cadre, hinting at a potential realignment.

Kavitha urged her father to provide clearer political direction. “Everybody expected that you would give specific programmes or guidelines in order to address the political scenario,” she wrote, suggesting a party plenary be held to engage the cadre and shape the next steps.

The letter’s authenticity remains unverified, and neither Kavitha’s nor KCR’s office has issued an official statement. Kavitha is currently in the United States attending her son’s graduation. Meanwhile, BRS MLC Sravan Dasoju downplayed the situation, calling it standard feedback from a daughter to her father and a party leader to her chief.

Despite denials of party friction, the letter has caught public and political attention, with both BJP and Congress interpreting it as a sign of internal discord within the BRS.
