Andhra Pradesh CM and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has expressed gratitude to the central government for addressing the state’s needs and allocating substantial funds for various developmental projects, including the new capital, Amaravati, in the Budget 2024. Chief Minister Naidu referred to the allocation as “oxygen for the state that was on ventilator,” emphasizing that this is just the beginning of a new phase of growth for Andhra Pradesh.
In her Seventh Budget speech Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced several key measures for the development of Andhra Pradesh, including a significant allocation of Rs 15,000 crore for the development of Amaravati.
CM Chandrababu Naidu, in a post on social media platform X, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Sitharaman for their focus on the state’s capital, the Polavaram project, industrial nodes, and the development of backward areas.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s post read, “On behalf of the people of Andhra Pradesh, I thank the Hon’ble Prime Minister, @narendramodi Ji and Hon’ble Union Finance Minister, @nsitharaman Ji, for recognizing the needs of our state and focusing on a capital, Polavaram, industrial nodes, and development of backward areas in AP in the union budget of FY 24-25. This support from the Centre will go a long way towards rebuilding Andhra Pradesh. I congratulate you on the presentation of this progressive and confidence-boosting budget.”

Minister Andhra Pradesh Government Nara Lokesh also expressed his appreciation, calling the Budget 2024 “a new sunrise” for the state. He highlighted the comprehensive nature of the support provided by the central government, covering crucial areas such as industrial growth, infrastructure, irrigation, and human resource development. In his post on X, Lokesh stated, “I am extremely delighted and grateful for the Union Finance Minister’s announcements today in the budget. These will go a long way towards helping AP achieve its development and social objectives. It’s a matter of great pride for the people of Andhra Pradesh that our struggle has been recognized, and a special and holistic package has been provided covering all important areas like industrial growth, infrastructure, irrigation, and HRD.”
Lokesh made a special mention of the contributions towards Amaravati and the Polavaram irrigation project, calling it a “red-letter day” in the state’s history. He added, “This is the first step towards our march together to building a state of our dreams.”

Ms Sitharaman emphasized the central government’s commitment to facilitating special financial support for the development of the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh. She also assured that the Centre is fully committed to the financing and completion of the Polavaram irrigation project. In addition, over Rs 3 lakh crore has been allocated for women-specific schemes in the state. The budget also includes a backward region grant for three districts of Andhra Pradesh, further underscoring the central government’s comprehensive support for the state’s development.
