Legendary WWE wrestler and actor John Cena recently shared his emotional experience meeting Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan during the wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, which took place in July. Cena, who was in India for the high-profile wedding, described the encounter with Shah RukhKhan as deeply moving and unforgettable.
In an interview with ANI, Cena recounted his awe and admiration for Shah Rukh Khan. “It was just such an emotional moment to be able to shake a person’s hand that affects your life so drastically and tell them specifically what they did. He was amazing. He couldn’t have been more empathetic and kind and sharing. It really was wonderful. I was awestruck, starstruck. It was fantastic,” Cena said.
Cena also reflected on how Shah Rukh Khan’s TED Talk had a profound impact on his life. “He (Shah Rukh) did a TED Talk that found me at the right time in my life, and his words were beyond inspirational to me. They helped orchestrate a change in my life. And since that change, I’ve been able to recognize all the jackpots that I’ve been given, and been grateful and worked hard to make sure I don’t waste them,” Cena explained.
Following the wedding, Cena took to social media to express his gratitude. In a tweet, he shared, “A surreal 24 hours. So grateful for the Ambani family for their unmatched warmth and hospitality. An experience filled with so many unforgettable moments which allowed me to connect with countless new friends, including meeting @iamsrk and being able to tell him personally the positive effect he has had on my life.”
In addition to the emotional moments, Cena also highlighted the culinary experiences at the wedding. He praised the diverse cuisine, particularly the Indian street food. “The Ambani wedding had its fair share of cuisine, but they also did Indian food and Indian street food very well. The food was fantastic. I had a short stay, which means I would like to go back and try some Indian food. The level of spice was just enough for me, just enough to break a small sweat. So, I can’t wait to try to test my spice meter when I come back,” Cena said.
John Cena concluded his remarks by expressing his eagerness to return to India. His visit to the country and his experiences at the wedding have left a lasting impression on him.
Looking ahead, Cena will be seen in the upcoming Prime Video film “Jackpot,” which also stars Awkwafina.
