The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a new directive mandating medical colleges to update their faculty lists on their official websites by July 31, 2024. This requirement stipulates that each department within the colleges must have a detailed and current list of faculty members, including their names, recent photographs, educational qualifications, latest designations, and registration numbers. The updated lists must be aligned with the AEBAS (Automated Biometric Attendance System) used by the colleges.
According to the official notification, the lists must be segmented by department, and should include key administrative figures such as the medical superintendent, principal, and dean if they are part of any department. This step is aimed at ensuring transparency and accuracy in faculty records and attendance.
The NMC has emphasized that any inaccuracies or delays in submitting this information will result in appropriate actions against the institutions involved. The updated lists are required to be maintained on a monthly basis, with the final update due on the last day of each month.
In addition, the NMC has addressed concerns regarding the misuse of the AEBAS system, highlighting that some institutions were found to be using fake fingerprints to mark biometric attendance. The commission has warned that such practices are taken very seriously and has instructed that all faculty members must personally record their attendance through the AEBAS system. Instances of impersonation will be met with stringent penalties.
