In the aftermath of the terrorist attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu & Kashmir’s Reasi, the police have taken steps to identify one of the attackers. On Tuesday, they released a sketch of one of the three terrorists involved in the assault.
Additionally, the police have announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh for any information leading to the apprehension of the terrorist.
The sketch of the assailant was compiled based on descriptions provided by eyewitnesses, aiding law enforcement in their pursuit of justice.
The recent attack targeted a bus carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra near Teryath village in the Poni area. The assailants opened fire on the 53-seater bus, causing it to veer off the road and plunge into a deep gorge.
Tragically, nine people lost their lives in the incident, while 41 others sustained injuries. The victims hailed from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi, reflecting the diverse group of pilgrims targeted by the terrorists.
In response to the attack, security forces have intensified efforts to track down the perpetrators. Eleven teams of security personnel have been deployed on the ground, with a multi-directional cordon established around the Ranso-Poni-Treyath belt.
The ongoing investigation and pursuit of the attackers underscore the authorities’ commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region, particularly during religious pilgrimages.
