Noida | Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the first phase of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant milestone in India’s aviation and infrastructure development.
The newly launched airport, located in the Jewar region of Gautam Buddh Nagar district, is poised to become a major aviation hub for northern India. Once all four phases of the project are completed, it is expected to emerge as the largest airport in Asia, significantly boosting connectivity, trade, and economic growth in the region.
Addressing a gathering during the inauguration ceremony, Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of national unity in the face of global uncertainties and conflicts. He stated that in times of crisis, particularly those related to war-like situations, the country must remain united and resilient to overcome challenges.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the development of the Noida International Airport is part of the government’s broader vision to enhance infrastructure and position India as a global economic powerhouse. He noted that improved air connectivity would not only benefit passengers but also accelerate industrial growth, tourism, and employment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh and adjoining regions.
The first phase of the airport has been designed to handle a substantial volume of passenger traffic, easing the burden on existing airports in the National Capital Region, especially Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Officials stated that the airport will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, modern terminals, and advanced cargo handling systems to meet international standards.
The project is being developed with a focus on sustainability and efficiency. Authorities have incorporated green technologies and environmentally friendly practices in the construction and operation of the airport. This aligns with India’s commitment to sustainable development and reducing carbon emissions in large-scale infrastructure projects.
The Noida International Airport is also expected to play a crucial role in strengthening regional connectivity under various government initiatives. Improved access to air travel is likely to benefit not only Noida and Greater Noida but also nearby districts in western Uttar Pradesh and parts of Haryana and Rajasthan.
During his speech, Narendra Modi reiterated that infrastructure development is a key driver of economic progress and social transformation. He underscored that projects like the Jewar airport reflect the government’s commitment to creating world-class facilities that meet the aspirations of a growing nation.
The Prime Minister also interacted with officials and stakeholders associated with the project and reviewed the facilities at the airport. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including senior government officials and representatives from the aviation sector.
With its strategic location and ambitious expansion plan, the Noida International Airport is expected to become a major gateway for both domestic and international travel. Experts believe that once fully operational, the airport will not only decongest existing air traffic in the NCR but also position Uttar Pradesh as a key player in India’s aviation landscape.
The inauguration of the first phase marks the beginning of a transformative journey for the region, with further phases set to expand capacity and infrastructure in the coming years.
