The Iranian Foreign Ministry has issued a strong condemnation against the recent attack and occupation of Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip by the Israeli regime, labeling it as a barbaric act that violates international law and humanitarian principles.
Speaking on behalf of the ministry, spokesman Nasser Kanaani expressed deep concern over the egregious actions of Israel, which resulted in the targeting of medical staff, patients, and wounded individuals at the hospital. He emphasized that such atrocities are not isolated incidents but rather a recurring pattern of aggression by the Israeli forces against Palestinians.
Highlighting the historical context of aggression, Kanaani underscored the long-standing policy of occupation, terror, and violence employed by the Israeli regime. He drew parallels between the recent events in Gaza and past instances of brutality in Sabra and Shatila camps and in Lebanon, lamenting the lack of proper response from the international community.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman pointed out the systematic targeting of hospitals and medical facilities in Gaza, noting that these actions violate international law, which safeguards medical institutions and patients during times of conflict. Despite these legal protections, Shifa Hospital has been repeatedly subjected to attacks by the Israeli military.
Kanaani urged the international community, particularly the United Nations and the UN Security Council, to fulfill their obligations in preventing further war crimes by the Israeli regime. He called for decisive action to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine, particularly in the Gaza Strip, where innocent civilians continue to suffer from the relentless aggression of the Israeli forces.
As the world witnesses the unfolding tragedy in Gaza, Kanaani reiterated Iran’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and called for solidarity among nations to confront the injustices perpetrated against the Palestinian people. He urged concerted efforts to hold the Israeli regime accountable for its actions and to work towards a just and lasting resolution to the conflict.
