Ahmedabad. Despite a fluctuating start to IPL 2024, former champions Gujarat Titans, under the mentorship of Gary Kirsten, are optimistic that the T20 format will offer valuable strategic lessons. Currently positioned at seventh place with one win and one loss in the matches of IPL 2022, the reigning runner-up Titans are facing challenges early in the season.
Impressed by Gill’s Leadership as Captain
Kirsten remarked, “This is a fast-paced game. Decisions need to be made on a regular basis. It’s not like Test cricket that unfolds slowly.” Regarding the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he commented, “I’m quite impressed with Gill as captain. He has handled the captaincy well and displayed traits of a good leader. He is astute and youthful. There’s much for him to learn, especially in T20 cricket.”
Titans Won’t Repeat Mistakes Against Chennai
The former South African cricketer emphasized that Titans wouldn’t repeat the mistakes made against Chennai Super Kings. He stated, “We lost a match by a significant margin, which we need to make up for. In case of teams having equal points, it boils down to net run rate. We need to keep that in mind. We require a good win here.”
