Instagram has launched two new features to enhance user profiles and communication: the ability to add a 30-second music clip to profiles and the option to change the color of Notes. This expansion allows users to customize their profiles more personally, offering new ways to express their tastes and preferences.
Users can now add a song to their profile by visiting the “edit profile” page, where they can search for and choose a track from Instagram’s licensed music library. This library is the same used for Instagram Reels and posts, giving users a familiar selection process. Once a song is chosen, users can select a 30-second segment to feature on their profile. Unlike celebratory greeting cards that play music automatically, the selected song on Instagram profiles will not autoplay; visitors must click on the song to listen. This new feature provides a subtle yet personal touch, allowing users to share their musical tastes with their followers. The song will remain on the user’s profile until it is manually deleted or replaced with another track.
Instagram is promoting this feature with a collaboration with singer Sabrina Carpenter. In anticipation of her album launch, Carpenter’s Instagram profile will showcase a sneak peek of one of her unreleased tracks. This move not only serves as a marketing strategy for Carpenter’s music but also highlights how the new feature can be used for exclusive content previews. Fans will have the unique opportunity to hear a track before its official release, creating excitement and engagement on the platform.
Alongside the music addition, Instagram has also introduced color options for its Notes feature. Certain phrases, including “Demure,” “Cutesy,” “Considerate,” and “Mindful,” will now trigger a pink hue in Notes. This subtle color change is designed to add a layer of personalization to communications. However, users have noted that due to low color saturation, the pink often appears more off-white, depending on the screen quality. This color feature follows a brief experiment with gold-colored Notes, which was eventually discontinued. Reports indicate that the gold Notes feature was phased out, making the pink hue the only current color option for Notes customization.
These updates reflect Instagram’s ongoing efforts to offer more personalization options and enhance user experience. By allowing users to integrate their musical tastes directly into their profiles and use color to express themselves in Notes, Instagram continues to innovate and provide new ways for users to connect and share their personalities online.
