  • Indian women pilots played key role in Operation Sindoor.
  • Over 200 casualties in precise India strike on Pakistan.

Operation Sindoor marked a significant moment in India’s counterterrorism efforts, with Indian forces delivering a swift and precise retaliation against terrorist strongholds and military targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation resulted in over 200 casualties on the Pakistani side, including around 42 military personnel, and showcased the critical involvement of Indian women pilots. This powerful response followed the deadly terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmir and reflects India’s determined stance against terrorism and cross-border threats.

Strategic Impact and Women Pilots’ Contribution
On May 7, India launched a carefully planned strike targeting nine terrorist headquarters in Pakistan and PoK, killing more than 170 terrorists. The greatest damage was inflicted on the Bahawalpur base of the Jaish-e-Mohammed, a group led by the wanted terrorist Maulana Masood Azhar, whose family reportedly suffered heavy losses. Following this, on May 9-10, India used BrahMos missiles to damage multiple Pakistani airbases, including Sargodha, Rahim Yar Khan, and Nur Khan. Defence sources confirmed that the Indian military successfully achieved all planned objectives with remarkable precision. Notably, women pilots played a vital role in the operation, highlighting their growing importance in India’s defence forces.

Ongoing Vigilance and Political Context
Although Operation Sindoor is currently paused, Indian defence officials remain vigilant, anticipating possible retaliatory actions from Pakistan, which has been described as “badly humiliated” by the strikes. Security forces are on high alert, prepared for any developments. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s appointment of Army Chief Asim Munir as Field Marshal has been seen as a symbolic move to restore morale. India’s military successes can be traced back to strategic decisions taken after the 2017 Doklam standoff, showing a consistent evolution in defence preparedness.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the nation from Bikaner on May 22, emphasized India’s unified response to terrorism, recalling the pain caused by the April 22 attack in Jammu & Kashmir. Modi praised the armed forces for their swift retaliation, which destroyed key terrorist bases in just 22 minutes. He highlighted the resilience and unity of 140 crore Indians, vowing that every drop of Indian blood spilled would be avenged. Modi also reaffirmed India’s firm security doctrine, warning that any attack on India will be met with a fierce response, with India determining the timing, method, and intensity of its actions, irrespective of nuclear threats.
