India’s Operation Sindoor, which saw precision airstrikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), has received widespread political support across party lines. This operation specifically targeted terrorist groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen, which have long been active in the region, with support from Pakistan’s military. The airstrikes were a direct response to the brutal Pahalgam attack on April 22, where 26 people lost their lives, including 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national. In the wake of the operation, leaders from both the ruling and opposition parties have expressed their approval, emphasizing India’s unwavering resolve to combat terrorism.
Political Leaders React to Operation Sindoor
Union Minister for External Affairs, S. Jaishankar, expressed his firm stance on terrorism in his post on X, stating, “The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism.” Jaishankar’s statement reinforced India’s call for a global effort to isolate and tackle terrorism, which continues to pose a threat to peace and security. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also supported the action, posting a message on X that read, “Bharat Mata ki Jai”, further bolstering the nation’s spirit in the face of such challenges.
Tejasvi Yadav, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), voiced strong support for the airstrikes. He highlighted that India, as a nation, does not tolerate terrorism or separatism, making it clear that the Indian Army and citizens stand united against such threats. “We do not tolerate it when terrorism attacks our unity and sovereignty. We know how to unite and give a befitting reply,” said Yadav, reflecting the national sentiment.
Support Across the Political Spectrum
Even leaders from opposition parties have praised the strikes. Sasmit Patra from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) hailed Operation Sindoor as a decisive action, demonstrating the nation’s collective resolve against terrorism. He added that the strikes served as a direct response to the Pahalgam attack and emphasized that those responsible would be held accountable. “Our brave armed forces have delivered a precise and powerful blow to terrorist infrastructure,” he said, underlining the significance of the operation.
Asaduddin Owaisi of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) also supported the operation, emphasizing the need to dismantle Pakistan’s terror infrastructure. He called for the Pakistani “deep state” to be taught a tough lesson, ensuring that attacks like Pahalgam never happen again.
The unity displayed by political leaders following the operation underscores a common national goal: to protect India’s sovereignty and to take strong action against terrorism.
