Sunita Williams will be flying alongside Astronaut Barry Eugene “Butch” Wilmore, launching on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket to the International Space Station. The mission is expected to last about a week, during which Williams and Wilmore will conduct various experiments and activities aboard the orbiting laboratory.
The spacecraft, named “Calypso” by Sunita Williams, has been in development for more than a decade and is designed to accommodate seven passengers for missions to low-Earth orbit. With her involvement in its development, Williams is poised to make history once again as she embarks on this historic space voyage.
