In a significant stride towards modernising its combat readiness, the Indian Army conducted the ‘Prachand Shakti’ exercise in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, demonstrating how indigenous disruptive technologies are being integrated into battlefield operations. The exercise, held by the Ram Division at the Kharga Corps Field Training Area, highlighted the Army’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge innovations for future warfare and showcased its readiness to adapt to changing threat environments.

Focus on Technological Transformation

The ‘Prachand Shakti’ exercise placed a spotlight on the Indian Army’s evolving approach to combat, where technologies such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), AI-enabled systems, loitering munitions, and autonomous platforms are actively being incorporated into operational strategies. This demonstration was a key part of the Army’s ‘Year of Tech Absorption’ initiative, which aims to integrate advanced technological solutions from civilian innovators into the Army’s operational framework, reflecting its push towards greater self-reliance and technological agility.

According to Army officials, the core objective of the exercise was to demonstrate how these disruptive technologies can enhance the agility, lethality, and survivability of infantry formations engaged in deep offensive operations by Strike Corps units. The practical demonstration in a live scenario illustrated the Army’s technological transformation in real-time, moving towards the adoption of advanced, home-grown innovations to increase combat efficiency and operational readiness.

Adapting to Changing Warfare Dynamics

The exercise showcased the Indian Army’s ability to adapt to the evolving dynamics of modern warfare, where technology-driven systems are central to defining operational capabilities on the battlefield. By employing these technologies, the Army aims to boost its strategic and tactical effectiveness, allowing infantry units to undertake missions with enhanced precision and reduced risk, even in complex and high-threat environments.

This initiative underlines the Indian Army’s commitment to future-readiness, innovation, and technological advancement in a rapidly shifting security landscape. As part of its long-term strategy, the Army’s integration of such advanced systems is expected to redefine its operational approach, ensuring that it remains capable of meeting emerging challenges with speed and efficiency, aligning its capabilities with the demands of modern warfare while reinforcing its vision of technological self-reliance.
