The 8th edition of the Global Technology Summit (GTS), India’s premier event on geo-technology, is all set to take place from December 4th to 6th, 2023, in New Delhi. This flagship event is co-hosted by the Policy Planning & Research Division of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and Carnegie India. The theme for this year’s summit is “Geopolitics of Technology.”

The inaugural session of the summit will commence with an address by Dr. S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India, setting the tone for insightful deliberations on the convergence of technology and geopolitics.

About GTS-2023

GTS-2023 promises an enriching three-day experience with over 40 public sessions, including keynote addresses, ministerial speeches, panel discussions, book launches, and various other related events. With a congregation of about a hundred speakers and thousands of participants, the summit will bring together a diverse mix of policymakers, industry experts, academics, technocrats, and innovators from India and across the globe.

The summit will also boast participation from esteemed ministers and senior government officials representing countries such as India, the USA, UK, Germany, Singapore, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Lithuania, Brazil, and the European Union. Adding to the vibrant mix, GTS-2023 will also feature the involvement of students and young professionals, aptly referred to as “GTS Young Ambassadors,” from India and the South Asian region.

Significant Agenda:

At the heart of GTS-2023’s agenda are crucial discussions surrounding technology and its profound impact on geopolitics, coupled with policy issues related to new, critical, and emerging technologies.

Moreover, one of the focal points of this year’s GTS is the emphasis on digital public infrastructure (DPIs) – an increasingly crucial aspect of the technological landscape. The summit will engage in comprehensive discussions about the design choices and adoption strategies of DPIs, as well as delve into the economic case for their widespread implementation.

Additionally, GTS-2023 will also dedicate significant attention to the use cases of artificial intelligence (AI), considering the evolving regulatory landscape. Discussions will encompass a wide range of AI-related topics, from skilling and innovation to the intricate web of military applications of AI. The Summit will also discuss export controls, data protection, as well as cross-cutting policy issues related to innovation and national security.

The inaugural session of the summit will commence with an address by Dr. S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India.
