The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has issued a warning to prospective candidates regarding fraudulent websites claiming to be associated with the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024. The alert, published on the official CAT 2024 website, stresses that only the official site, https://iimcat.ac.in, should be used for information and registration.
The notification highlights that advertisements for CAT 2024 have appeared in various newspapers across the country. However, it emphasizes that information provided on the official CAT website is the sole valid source. The institute cautions against deceptive websites that mimic the appearance of the official site but are designed to gather personal information from unsuspecting users.
“CAT Centre has been made aware of a fraudulent website posing as a website for CAT registration, targeting applications and soliciting personal information,” the notification states. “We urge all applicants and stakeholders to be cautious and visit only our official website and not fall prey to spurious and malicious websites engaging in pharming/phishing that resemble the official CAT website.”
IIM Calcutta has outlined several key measures for applicants to follow to avoid falling victim to scams. Candidates are advised to always verify the URL to ensure it leads to the official CAT website. They should be wary of unsecured websites that request personal information or payments.
For those who encounter suspicious activity, IIM Calcutta has provided a contact for reporting such issues. Applicants and other stakeholders can report any concerns to the CAT help desk via email at cat2024_helpdesk@iimcal.ac.in.
As for the CAT 2024 examination, registrations are currently open and will close on September 13, 2024. Interested and eligible candidates are encouraged to register through the official website. The examination is scheduled to take place on November 24, 2024, in 170 cities across India. Admit cards for the test will be released on November 5, 2024.
