The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced a revised schedule for the upcoming Chartered Accountancy (CA) exams, following a clash with the Lok Sabha election dates. In an official notification, ICAI stated that new exam dates would be declared on March 19, as the previously scheduled dates coincided with the parliamentary elections.
The decision by ICAI comes in response to the release of the schedule for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, which are scheduled to be held from April 19 to June 1.
According to the original calendar released by ICAI, the CA Foundation course exams were slated for June 20, 22, 24, and 26. Intermediate Group 1 exams were set for May 3, 5, and 7, while Group 2 exams were scheduled for May 9, 11, and 13. The CA Final exams were also arranged, with Group 1 exams on May 2, 4, and 6, and Group 2 exams on May 8, 10, and 12.
The official notification from ICAI reiterated the organization’s commitment to ensuring that exam schedules do not clash with important national events such as elections. It stated, “In case Chartered Accountants Examination dates coincide with the Lok Sabha Election dates, the examination will get rescheduled.”
In light of the Election Commission’s announcement of the Lok Sabha Election schedule for April – June 2024, ICAI confirmed that the exams would be rescheduled accordingly. The parliamentary elections are set to be conducted in seven phases, commencing from April 19, 2024, and concluding on June 1, 2024. The counting of votes for all phases is scheduled for June 4, 2024.
ICAI assured candidates that the detailed revised schedule for the May 2024 Examinations would be issued on March 19, 2024, in the evening, on the official website www.icai.org.
