Gautam Buddh Nagar, February, 2026:
With the upcoming Holi festival in view, the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department of the district has stepped up its enforcement drive to ensure the availability of safe and hygienic food items for residents. Acting on the directions of the District Magistrate, food safety officials conducted raids at various establishments and collected samples of food products for laboratory testing.
The special campaign aims to prevent the sale of adulterated, substandard, or contaminated food products during the festive season when the demand for sweets and edible items rises significantly. Officials stated that strict monitoring is being carried out across sweet shops, manufacturing units, and food processing establishments in both Noida and Greater Noida.

Assistant Commissioner (Food) II Sarvesh Mishra informed that a team comprising Food Safety Officers Ritu Saxena and Amar Bahadur Saroj conducted an inspection at Samyak Mithaiwala located in Rasoolpur Nawada, Sector 62, Noida. During the inspection, approximately 100 kilograms of gulab jamun were found in unhygienic conditions, exposed to flies and insects.
Considering the serious violation of food safety standards, the team collected one sample of gulab jamun for laboratory analysis. The remaining stock was immediately destroyed on the spot to prevent its sale to consumers. Officials emphasized that strict action will be taken against establishments found compromising public health.
In a separate operation led by Chief Food Safety Officer Virendra Dwivedi, a team including Food Safety Officers Mukesh Kumar, Ravindra Nath Verma, Vijay Bahadur Patel, and Syed Ibadullah inspected the premises of Janaki Ballabh Foods Private Limited, located at J-81, UPSIDC Industrial Area, Site-5, Kasna, Greater Noida. The unit is engaged in the manufacturing of edible oils.
During the inspection, the team collected one sample of 750-gram refined soybean oil (Nutriglow brand), one sample from a 13-kilogram packed tin of the same brand’s refined soybean oil, and one sample of 750-gram packed refined palmolein oil of the same brand.

Officials observed that the products bore a fortification logo without actual fortification being carried out. Moreover, batch numbers and other mandatory records were not made available at the site during inspection. Due to these irregularities, authorities seized 291 tins of refined soybean oil, 3,968 packed pouches of refined soybean oil, and 6,995 packed pouches of refined palmolein oil.
Additionally, 91 tins (15 kilograms each) of refined palmolein oil under the brand “Nutrilive Gold,” meant for trading by another company, were found to be past their expiry date. One sample was collected from the expired stock, and the remaining 91 tins were sealed on the spot.
In total, five samples were collected during the drive and are being sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis. Further action will be taken based on the test reports under relevant provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The department reiterated that the enforcement drive will continue in the coming days under the supervision of district authorities. The objective is to ensure that residents of Gautam Buddh Nagar receive food and beverage products that comply with prescribed quality and safety standards during the festive season.
Officials urged food business operators to strictly adhere to hygiene norms, proper labeling requirements, and statutory regulations, warning that any negligence or violation would invite stringent legal action. The administration has made it clear that public health remains a top priority, especially during major festivals like Holi when consumption of sweets and edible oils increases substantially.
The campaign is part of a broader effort to strengthen food safety surveillance in the district and to curb the circulation of unsafe food products in the market.
