Bhopal, 10 September : The Meteorological Department has predicted moderate to heavy rain in 17 districts, including Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Rewa, Shahdol, and Shivpuri, on Sunday. Along with this, there may be rain in Indore, Jabalpur, and Gwalior as well.
Heavy rain in 21 districts of Madhya Pradesh
There was heavy rain in 21 districts of the state on Saturday. A maximum of 3.5 inches of water fell in Narmadapuram. More than two and a quarter inches of rain were recorded in Chhindwara. Damoh received 1 inch of rain; Betul and Naugaon received more than half an inch of rain. Similarly, Sagar, Ratlam, Umaria, Pachmarhi, Sidhi, Ujjain, Guna, Seoni, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Khajuraho, Bhopal, Indore, Dhar, Malajkhand, Mandla, and Sagar also received slow and heavy rains at some places. There was heavy rain in different areas of the capital, Bhopal, after 7 p.m.
Due to heavy rains in the western part of Madhya Pradesh, the normal rainfall figures have increased. However, the total rainfall figure is still 17 percent less. So far, the state has received 28.16 inches of rain, whereas it should have been 33.38 inches. The eastern part has recorded 11 percent less rainfall than the average, and the western part has recorded 19 percent less rainfall than the average. Earlier, the figure of below-average rainfall in the western part had reached 23 percent.
Moderate to heavy rain likely in Bhopal and other parts of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday
Senior meteorologist Dr. Vedprakash Singh said that due to active cyclonic circulation in the state, there was heavy rain in Nimar and Northern Madhya Pradesh along with Gwalior-Chambal on Friday-Saturday. Now the system has become a little weak. Despite this, moderate to heavy rain is expected in many districts, including Bhopal, on Sunday as well. The monsoon system will be active once again from September 12–13. Due to this, the rainy season will continue until September 18–20.
According to the department, there may be moderate to heavy rainfall in Bhopal, Shajapur, Dewas, Harda, Betul, Narmadapuram, Vidisha, Guna, Shivpuri, Morena, Datia, Bhind, Tikamgarh, Satna, Rewa, Shahdol, and Anuppur on Sunday. 2 to 4 inches of water may fall here in the next 24 hours. Whereas, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ujjain, Dhar, Indore, Agar-Malwa, Rajgarh, Khandwa, Khargone, Burhanpur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Mandla, Dindori, Jabalpur, Katni, Umaria, Sidhi, Singrauli, Panna, Damoh, Sagar, Chhatarpur, and there may be light rain with thunder in Sheopur Kalan.
