Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has joined the national team in New York in preparation for their warm-up match in the T20 World Cup 2024. Hardik Pandya, who travelled separately from the first batch of the Indian contingent, shared training photos on Instagram, marking his return to the national team setup.
This will be Hardik Pandya’s first assignment with the national team since the ODI World Cup 2023, where he sustained an ankle injury during the match against Bangladesh. Following his injury, Hardik Pandya missed a series against Australia, South Africa, and Afghanistan, and participated directly in the Indian Premier League. He is hopeful of reversing his recent form struggles, particularly after a challenging period with the Mumbai Indians.
Hardik Pandya is not the only player who travelled separately, Sanju Samson and Rinku Singh also made their way to New York independently. This staggered travel arrangement was necessitated by the varying commitments of players to their respective IPL franchises, requiring the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to adopt a flexible approach.
The Indian players have arrived in batches in the US. The first batch included prominent names like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant. The second batch featured Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
