Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended his heartfelt birthday wishes to Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, commending his significant contributions to India’s energy sector. The Prime Minister lauded Puri for his dedication to making India a hub for petroleum and natural gas-related initiatives, which are critical to the country’s self-reliance ambitions.
Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi acknowledged Puri’s journey from a distinguished diplomat to a key political leader shaping India’s energy policies. “On his birthday, my best wishes to Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri Ji. He made a mark as a respected diplomat and has now devoted himself to the world of politics and administration. He is at the forefront of making India a hub for petroleum and natural gas-related initiatives, which are very important in our quest for self-reliance. Praying for his long and healthy life,” the Prime Minister wrote.
In response, Hardeep Singh Puri expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s warm wishes, emphasizing his commitment to India’s energy transformation under Modi’s leadership. “Sir I am deeply touched and grateful and thank you for your warm birthday greetings PM Sh @narendramodi Ji. It is my deep privilege to be a part of your team as you lead India’s glorious transformation and unprecedented development in all sectors including energy self-sufficiency & green energy transition. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his best wishes to Puri, recognizing his relentless efforts in driving the vision of an energy-secure India. In his message, Shah highlighted Puri’s role in accelerating the government’s initiatives in the petroleum and natural gas sector, ensuring that India takes significant strides towards energy security. “Warm birthday wishes to my Cabinet colleague Shri @HardeepSPuri Ji. Your tireless efforts are accelerating Modi Ji’s vision for an energy-secure Bharat. May you enjoy a healthy and long life,” Shah wrote.
Hardeep Singh Puri, known for his illustrious career in diplomacy, has been instrumental in shaping India’s energy policies. Since assuming charge of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, he has played a crucial role in advancing India’s energy self-sufficiency agenda, strengthening international collaborations, and promoting green energy transitions.
Puri was inducted into the Council of Ministers in September 2017 as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Housing and Urban Affairs. His portfolio expanded in May 2019 when he was given additional charge of Civil Aviation and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. In July 2021, he was sworn in as a Union Minister and currently serves as the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs as well as the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Under his leadership, India is steadily positioning itself as a key player in the global energy market while pursuing ambitious initiatives to boost domestic production and reduce dependency on imports.
