The Indian government has scheduled an all-party meeting for Thursday, 8th May 2025, to brief political leaders about the recent military action under ‘Operation Sindoor’. This strike, carried out by the Indian Armed Forces, targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), in retaliation for the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on 22nd April. The meeting, organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, will take place in the Parliament Library Building in New Delhi.

The meeting comes after the Indian military launched a missile strike on nine terror targets early on Wednesday. The action, referred to as ‘Operation Sindoor’, was a calculated response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which left 26 people dead, including 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen. The military’s aim was to target terrorist infrastructure used by outfits such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), responsible for training militants and harboring them on Pakistani soil.

Details of the Meeting and Operation Sindoor

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed the details of the meeting via social media. He announced that the meeting would take place at 11 am in Committee Room G-074, at the Parliament Library Building, New Delhi. This step was taken to ensure that all political leaders, irrespective of party affiliations, are briefed on the Indian armed forces’ action.

The attack came two weeks after the Pahalgam incident, and the government emphasized that the military’s operation was carefully planned to ensure a precise and responsible strike. Officials described the action as “measured, non-escalatory, proportionate, and responsible”. The government stated that the goal was to dismantle terrorist infrastructure while preventing any further attacks in the future. The response was aimed at sending a clear message to Pakistan about India’s commitment to counter-terrorism efforts and national security.

In the aftermath of the operation, the Indian government has ensured that the military’s actions were proportional and aimed at deterring future terrorist activities. The all-party meeting is expected to discuss the broader implications of the operation and the steps that India will continue to take to ensure national security.
